More on Atlanta’s three venues

A friend in Atlanta has provided some more insight into the ASO’s decision to add a third venue to their portfolio. In essence, my friend described the decision as a defensive move, in that the venue was going to be built anyway and had the potential to cut into the revenue generated for the ASO by events at Chastain Park Amphitheater.

I still think the notion of an orchestra running three venues is a problematic one. But, when an orchestra is dependent on revenue from a venue, it certainly makes sense to protect it.
